Shamanic Drum Beater
Driftwood selected from a wild Tasmanian Beach, with natural worm scribble scrolled over the surface of the wood. The Japanese characters for Japanese Drum, and Spirit Wind, have been added to the design. 41cm long
As with all my drum beaters, the head is packed with Tasmanian alpaca and sheep’s fleece. The beater head covering is a durable corduroy. The binding is a natural hemp string. All my driftwood pieces are chosen for the hand hold, they must fit comfortably in the hand and be ergonomically sustainable. This one has had quality artist’s oils rubbed into the surface with an antiquing technique and the wood has been left natural, without clear coat.
